Welcome to the introductory episode of the Food Safety Podcast! This is Episode 0, a special introduction to what you can expect from our series. Our podcast is designed for food safety enthusiasts, whether you’re new to the field or have a general interest in understanding the intricacies of food safety without getting bogged down by overly technical jargon. We aim to demystify complex concepts like BRCs, HACCPs, and CCPs, making them accessible to everyone.
In this episode, I share my motivation for creating this podcast. I wanted to provide a platform where individuals without a formal food safety background can gain insights and practical tips, especially when facing nerve-wracking audits like SQF. While our primary focus will be on SQF due to my expertise, we’ll also touch on BSC and other relevant topics. Expect to hear about the latest updates from FSANZ, including recalls and public notices, as well as discussions on dairy management and approved supplier relationships.
This podcast is community-driven, meaning your feedback will shape our content. We plan to release episodes every Monday, covering a range of topics from SQF audits to self-assessment questionnaires. Occasionally, we’ll feature guest speakers to provide additional perspectives. As this is a community-focused initiative, we won’t be influenced by sponsors or paid content. Your input is invaluable, so let us know what you’d like to hear in future episodes.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I look forward to your company in Episode 1, which will be released next Monday. Until then, take care and stay safe!

Good morning, fellow food safetyists, and here we are with episode 0 of the food safety podcast. Podcast, episode 0. I’ve created this episode 0 just to give you an idea of what’s coming, why I created it, and everything like that. Now as you can tell by the title, this is the food safety podcast, and it’s aimed at, let’s say, food safetyists. Those who sort of, fell into the industry or those who just have a, general interest in in food safety. Now, it’s not I’m not gonna get too technical with stuff like that. This is more to, demystify everything, take infusion out of the BRCs, the HACCPs, the ARPs, the, what’s it, the QRPs, the CCPs, and all that sort of stuff, and, you know, bring it down to something that people can understand, you know, without having to spend, you know, years at university doing a, good technology degree or anything like that. Also, I give you some tips and hints on how to, you know, sick you know, to how to take the the stress and the pain, out of SQF audits, and things like that. Now, primarily, it’s going to be SQF focused because, that’s the one that I have the most experience and knowledge in. Though we will be dabbling a little bit into, BSC and settings, for that one. Now why did I create it? I created it because I wanted somewhere where, you know, someone who doesn’t have a food safety background can go in and understand about food safety who can, you know, get, yeah, the reader’s digest version of things.
You know, the the first order you go through when you put in this is a bit nerve wracking, same as when the council comes through. But, you know, after a bit of period of time, you get to have an idea of of what they’re after, what they’re looking for, and, you know, how to make it relatively painless for everyone. We’ll this podcast is gonna come out probably every Monday. Going to talk about, anything that’s come from Fizance in the the last week. So any recalls, any notices, anything that, you know, you’ve got, you know, public questions on or or public feedback on. I will also dabble a little bit into the, SQF stuff, because I think this should tend coming out later into the year or early next year.
So there’s gonna be a bit of a talk about that. There’s gonna be talk about the current issue 9, and a little bit into, dairy management and the approved supplier relationships and things like that. So, yeah, it’s, as I said, it’s it’s not gonna be anything too technical. If there is any technical terms in it, they’ll get, you know, simplified as much as we can, and talk about that. And now there’ll also be a guest or 2 coming on over the the course of the podcast. Not gonna be anything on this one because I said this is episode 0. This is just a space for here, me to, get up, have a bit of waffle, talk about why the podcast is here and what to expect from it. So the as I said, the podcast come out probably Monday morning around about 9 o’clock.
I say our guys at 9. I might make it a little bit earlier. I might make it a bit later depending on on feedback that I get. And this is gonna be a a community driven podcast. And by that, that I mean, I’m not gonna be talking about things that, you know, sponsors or someone’s, you know, paid me to talk about. And then I won’t be taking any payments on anything, to produce content. But if you do wanna support it, I you know, I’m not gonna say no to to anything like that, but I’ll get more into that one, in later episodes. So, yeah, it’s it’s community driven. So you tell me after listening to this, you tell tell me what you wanna hear about. I’ll talk about that. We’ll talk about, you know, your SQF audits, you know, what the difference in the different set x orders, the twos and the 4 pillars.
Do you you know, I think most things have an SAQ, you know, the self assessment questionnaire, and things like that. So all that sort of stuff will be covered, in future episodes, as well as, as I said, a bit of discussion on anything that’s happening with phiz ants and and all that sort of stuff. So, anyway, thanks for listening. Kinda wrap it up here. Finish that. Yeah. So I’ll wrap it up here and, say bye, and, look forward to having you join me on episode 1, which will come out, next Monday morning. So till then, bye for now.
